as usual it feels like Time is flying by

August is flying by quickly, especially when I look at all of the things I need to be doing. Among other things, I've still got a lot of preparation work to do on the Arctic Fox before Labor Day, when my son plans to haul it back to Montana.

The grandkids go back to school Monday morning, and for the first time, they are both old enough so a relative doesn't have to go in the classroom and sign them in and out like had to be done in preschool and kindergarten. Someone still drives them to school because they're little, but the school is only about 1/4 of a mile away and can easily be walked, even by kids their age, which I assume will be happening fairly quickly.

At least when the grandkids have their on kids, they'll be able to tell them how they had to walk 10 miles to school through 5 feet of snow... At least living in Denver, it will sound more believable than when I told that story to my kids, and I was going to school in Miami.

So far, August has been very livable weather-wise, with highs in the high 80s low 90s, humidity in the 20s or 30s, and the afternoon rain showers usually light enough that it's hardly measurable. But the most important temperature to me is the lows at night in the low 60s, which I consider good sleeping weather, and I can deal with just about anything if I can get a good night's sleep.

With all the things I need to do while I'm in Denver and the Denver weather holding up very nicely, without any hundreds in the forecast, I'm not sure if I will take another mini-vacation in August. But I still want to get down to southern Colorado in September to find some visiting Sandhill Cranes. I'm not sure why that's important to me, considering how many places I have available in New Mexico and Arizona, where there are far more Sandhill Cranes to take pictures of, but I do enjoy running around southern Colorado when the weather is crisp, the leaves are changing, the sky is clear, and there's a dusting of snow on the mountain peaks. There's just something about Fall in Colorado that makes me want to get out and do things.

But I don't need to figure anything out, or even think about it, something inside me tells me when I should go, and when I go, something along the way will tell me where to stop. I know that doesn't work for everyone, but I like to live that way. And being a full-timer, where I'm at usually doesn't matter. I always have my home with me, and in my home I've got everything that I need to live comfortably in the summer or the winter, so it doesn't matter where I go or when. I'm always prepared, and anywhere I'm at is exactly where I want to be.
