Back in Denver

Even though I'm back in Denver now, I've still got left over snapshots from my mini-vacation. So I will be showing those random snapshots until I run out since the grandkids are in school most of the day, the flowers around the house, are mostly dead, and what I do every day is pretty boring, but I've never let that keep me from writing about it.

I'm back in Denver now. So life will be a lot less confusing for me since I can now blog about what I'm doing while I'm doing it, instead of writing about it while I'm doing it but blogging about it after I've done it.

The weather has indeed cooled off in Denver somewhat, so there should be no excuse for me not getting things done in the camper other than my usual excuses of laziness and lack of ambition, which aren't exactly excuses... there a way of life.

I've only got two big things I need to accomplish before I hit the road this winter: I need to take out the vent over my bed in the Lance, which has no fan in it; it's just a vent. And replace it with a normal vent with a fan in it. The bathroom has a Fantastic vent fan in it, so if I install the vent fan over my bed, that's lying on the sofa right now, I can have one fan bringing air in and the other pulling it out, which is usually all I need to stay cool.

And I need to put two cooling fans, that are just lying here waiting to be installed, in the back of the Lance refrigerator where all the working bits are found. I'm not sure yet where I want to put them, but I think maybe they should go under the roof refrigerator vent for the best air circulation.

If I had doubts about the Lance leaking anywhere, this trip put my mind at ease. It rained every day that I was at Rocky Mountain National Park. Sometimes lightly, sometimes hard. Sometimes while I was asleep in the camper, sometimes driving down the road. And sometimes asleep while driving down the road. And all that time, I never found a single leak... And I looked!

I enjoyed this trip. One of the best things about being in Colorado during the Summer is being with my family, but another thing is all the fun places I get to go. There are many things to do and places to see in Colorado, only a few hours drive from Denver, and just being able to get away and enjoy a new view every once in a while helps keep me out of the rut most of us dig for ourselves.

It also opens up my life to new challenges. And I believe life's challenges help keep folks young, mentally if nothing else. I realize that as I get older, I tend to want my life to be as monotonous, uncomplicated, easy, mundane, and challenge free as possible. And I can effortlessly slide into that lifestyle without even noticing it's happening if I'm not careful.

Someone once said, "Adventure is impossible without challenge." And I have found that travel is a good way for me to experience challenges in life, especially the good kind of challenges. So I use travel to keep my rut from becoming so deep that I'm unaware I'm in it.

On my way out of Rocky Mountain National Park there were a lot of burn scars from recent forest fires. Usually the fires don't burn the trees completely, depending on the wind, it flashes through the forest and lasts just long enough to kill them and leave them standing.

Sometimes the burned timber went on for miles.
