Back in Denver

Cranes coming in for a landing.

I'm getting adjusted to being back in Denver again. In Denver I've traded the sound of Sandhill cranes flying overhead, to the sound of cars going by.... I much prefer the croaking of the Cranes.

I took a lot of pictures of the Cranes in Alamosa but looking back at the pictures I took, there all the same. There just cranes soaring overhead going in one direction or another, maybe two cranes, maybe 30, but there still all just cranes flying around. And even though the pictures were fun for me to take, there actually pretty boring to look at because they're all about the same. So I'll still show a few but not very many.

I need to go to someplace where I can get close to the Cranes, and the nearest place would be the Bosque Del Apache in New Mexico. I've been there four or five times, starting way before I became a full-timer, and always enjoy being there because there's so many birds, especially Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese. It's easy to get close to them, meaning 30 or 40 feet away, whereas in Alamosa I doubt if I saw a crane on the ground closer than a couple of hundred yards from me.

So the Bosque is one of the places I want to go fairly early on in my travels this winter, because I kinda need to stay in northern New Mexico or northern Arizona area for about a month so I won't be too far from Gallup New Mexico and the balloon rally that I have reservations for December 1.

My family is getting back to normal Covid wise. Everybody that tested positive is now fine except we all have a bit of a lingering cough. My grandson didn't catch it even though he lives in a house full of people that all had it, so it seems that maybe he had it previously but there were no symptoms so no one ever knew he was sick, that apparently is very common for the Bat flu.

I'm told I no longer have to worry about catching the Bat flu again for at least three months, maybe more, so that's nice. I'm not supposed to take a flu shot until at least 10 days after testing negative for Covid, so I hope to get that done before I leave here for the winter.
