Barrel racing

The action is fast, so clicking the pics should be the same.

I didn't know there was going to be this many contestants at the barrel race. And I didn't know they were going to Park in the boondocking area. There were also several parking lots filled with horse trailers. If you look in the middle of the picture you can see the bronco. I'm surrounded by horses and the flies and follow them wherever they go. But I don't mind, this is great, its just like having a pit pass at a race, I'm right in the middle of the action.

I had a great time watching the barrel racing today. There's always a lot of activity going on with the contestants and the horses, and since the only people watching are other contestants or a family member or two, it wasn't crowded and the size of the arena gives a chance for everyone to spread out. And since a barrel racer gallops in all four directions, wherever you stand you get a good view of the action.

And of course I did a lot of standing, and walking which is what I have to do to avoid boring myself and everyone else by taking pictures from the exact same location. But I am definitely tired, the most sitting I did all day was when I walked back to the bronco and spent an hour resting up while eating lunch.

But since this is a single day event it's good practice for me to help me get used to the upcoming high school rodeo next week starting on Thursday. It's a multi-day event so I'm going to have two or three days of walking around all day just like I did today. My feet ache just thinking about it.

You would think all of those do-dad's flopping around on the horses chest would bother him.

This horse knocked the barrel over, which you're not supposed to do. So Old Paint probably just earned himself a top spot on the menu at the nearest French restaurant.

I'm glad I don't have to make my truck turn by pulling on a string.

I'm sure this lady is a very nice person....But she scares the bejesus out of me.
