I left Quartzsite this morning about 8:30 and arrived at Ben Avery's gun range near cave Creek Arizona just in time for lunch. Fortunately for me there was just enough leftover clouds in the sky to keep the morning sun out of my eyes since I was mostly heading east. I signed up for a week of boondocking at $10 a day and they said it would be okay to re-up for another week if I wanted to.
Being here will give me a chance to catch up on some mail and do some maintenance things that I've been putting off. There's also a Verizon store nearby, so I'll talk to them soon as I get a chance about the unlimited data with the jetpack deal.
It will also be interesting to see if the three legged coyote is still running around, or should I say hopping around. I think the last time I was here I didn't see him. But the fact that he even survived his injuries is amazing to me.
As soon as I pull into Ben Avery's gun range I feel happy and at home. I guess its partly because I've spent so much time here in the past. I'm sure it's also because I fit in here, I've been a gun guy all of my life and obviously the people here, both the customers and the employees are also gun people. So it doesn't matter who you are, you can be a gypsy boondocker like me, or a multimillionaire sports star, which by the way I've seen here, as long as your a gun person you fit right in no matter what your other life happens to be.
But one things for sure, if your going to camp at either of Ben Avery's three campgrounds you had better not be bothered by the sound of gunfire
I like boondocking at the rifle range, because unlike the Trap and Sporting Clays camping area, there's hardly anyone over here in less there's some kind of multi-day competition going on.
