I spoke too soon, I woke up this morning and it was cloudy, dreary, and windy, and it looks like it's going to be like that for another five days. Just for the heck of it I looked at Phoenix weather and it's mid-seventies and nothing but sunshine for the next week, Color me depressed.

I bought a Texas combination fishing license for nonresidents yesterday for $68, which entitles me to fish in fresh and saltwater until next August. So between that and the Texas state Park pass I bought when I got to Texas I have a lot of money invested in Texas at the moment.

I guess I could move inland and get away from the coast I'm sure that would help with the cloudiness, but getting away from the coast generally means you get away from the warm Gulf waters and the temperatures aren't as mild. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I do know that boondocking with solar panels is not gonna work very well around here, and staying in places with electric hookups is kind of expensive. I had always planned on going to an RV Park and paying for a monthly site, since there a lot cheaper than weekly rates, but right now I kind of hate to commit myself for a month seeing how the weather's been.

Well I will figure it out sooner or later, I'm paid up until next Wednesday and since I live day by day I'll just see what's going on then and make a decision based on how I feel that morning.

Getting a decent monthly site in this area this time of the year could turn out to not be an option. Check Mustang Island State Park for cheaper rates than where you are now.

Yeah I've heard things can get pretty busy around here especially after the holidays. So I may have to get farther away from the coast.

I haven't visited Mustang yet but I looked it up on the Internet and it is a little cheaper by the week than I'm paying here at the County Park. But it doesn't have a fishing pier and it's not just a few feet from the beach like I am now, which is kind of a mixed blessing at the moment, and it's a longer drive into town. But I know it would be a nice place because all the Texas Parks I've stayed at have been very well cared for. So when the weather gets better, or before I die whichever comes first, I want to drive up the island and check out Mustang and that other County Park at the end of the island, it has a pier and it looks like there's some fishing in the channel nearby. My guess is you know every square inch of that area.

Basically Barney I'm just not sure what to do at the moment. And having to force my trailer door open against the wind this morning isn't helping.

The Fish Pass Jetties at Mustang Island SP are good fishing . They have been the featured item in many of my blog entries. You might look up Shorebound angler blog for that area you are in. farther from the coast gets a good bit colder for Dec and Jan. If you want warmer head on down to Falcon Lake but be prepared for a more remote type area.

I've noticed as I drive around I see signs of places that you've mentioned in your blog, it almost makes me feel like I know the place. I'll look up the shore bound angler blog tonight. That blog sounds like one that would fit my situation perfectly.

I looked up the Falcon Lake state Park and it really is out in the middle of nowhere. I don't mind the middle of nowhere as long as there's some shopping nearby so I don't have to spend so much money on diesel fuel to get the necessities of life.

Since you've spent so much time here in Corpus is it normal for it to be this cloudy for this long. Cold doesn't bother me that much because Lord knows I'm kind of used to it. But I really don't like cloudy, rainy, windy,weather like we've been having since I got here. I guess I've just gotten used to the West where it doesn't stay like this for more than two days and then the sun comes out and everything's fine.

It can just as easily suddenly be the most beautiful weather you could ever wish for. It is definitely a crap shoot December and January. How about sending me your email so we can communicate easier. [email protected]
