Boondocking at the Trinidad Colorado Walmart

Here I am safe and sound at the Walmart parking lot in Trinidad, Colorado. It will take me a while to get used to the altitude and the rather brisk weather of Colorado. But acclimatize, I will; it's just that the older I get, the longer it takes.

I've got a lot to do when I get back to Denver, and I hardly know where to start. So I guess I will start with getting my Bat flu shot. I could've gotten it before now, but I decided I would wait to get back with my family just in case there were any troublesome side effects, I would be with my family instead of having to deal with it alone.
 
Even though the shot is readily available everywhere, I felt safe waiting because of my full-timing lifestyle, especially my long-term boondocking way of living; I felt that my chance of contracting the Bat flu would be pretty slim.

I'm looking forward to putting the little Bronco camper on the back of the truck and taking some mini-vacations. But at the same time, I'm worried about what I will find up in the High Country. Last year things were very crowded with tourists and campers. And because of the crowds of RVs I've seen so far this year camping in the desert, I fear Colorado may be overrun.

It looks like this coming weekend is Memorial Day, which is one of those weekends that I'm perfectly happy to be off the road and hunkered down someplace safe. Because even if I already had a place to boondock for the holidays, the crowds, the noise, and their city-slicker ways make it difficult for me to enjoy my stay. So I'll be glad to be back in Denver.

It's great to be back in Colorado again. I love being in the desert in the winter, and Colorado in the summer. I don't know how it could be any better than that.

Even Walmarts have a Mountain View.

Here's a boondocking lesson for anyone interested. If you have sharp eyes, which I don't, you can see those red and white warning signs in the Trinidad Colorado Walmart parking lot, and those signs say "no overnight parking".

Now if you weren't paying attention and that was the only signs you looked at because that's where you parked. You might figure you're not welcome, and leave..... But those signs are only in the Walmart maintenance area parking lot where Walmart puts on new tires and changes your oil.

But if you're paying attention, you might see all the rest of the warning signs in the parking lot look the same, but say this.... Walmart does that sometimes, I think it's just to keep RVers on their toes.

I really like the antique RV trailers, and I'm happy people are fixing them up and using them. But I don't have the desire or the ambition to keep something this old from falling apart...... I can barely keep myself from falling apart.
