Boondocking, what is its future?

Looking back on my travels for the last couple of years, it appears to me that the recent explosion in popularity of camping vans I've been seeing tend to gravitate more towards boondocking than to RV parks.

I guess this makes sense because when's the last time you saw an advertisement for a camping van parked elbow to awning in a crowded RV Park?.... I believe the correct answer is never. That being the case, it probably explains why I see so many vans boondocking.

Now I don't have enough personal experience staying in RV parks to actually determine if there are just as many vans in RV parks as there are out boondocking. I do see vans in RV parks, but it appears to me that I'm seeing a more significant number boondocking than I've ever seen in the past. I attribute that mainly to manufacturers advertising that connects van camping to the great outdoors, and getting closer to nature, rather than closer to your fellow RVers in an RV Park.

RV manufacturers pay close attention to "trends" because trends give them a clue as to future ways of making more profit. And I'm pretty sure that RV manufacturers have noticed that boondocking is becoming more popular than it used to be, if for no other reason than the increased van sales. This may indicate RVers want to spend more time away from shore power and near the wide-open spaces.

Jumping to what appears to be a completely different topic, but actually isn't..... There's a YouTube video I watch every now and then called "Haylett RV reviews," and yes, it is an RV dealer that wants to sell you stuff. Still, I don't watch them for the RV advertising; I watch their videos because they have interesting and sometimes insightful information about the RV industry. And while I was watching the other day, about halfway through the video, something was said that I found rather intriguing because it was about the possible future of boondocking.

So, how does that video tie in with all the boondocking vans running around? It looks like you'll have to wait till tomorrow to find out because this blog post is getting too long..... And when these posts get too long, even I lose interest in it.
