I always figure that the earlier I can get settled into a place before a major holiday the better. I of course am not the only one that feels that way, and with all the boondockers out there nowadays there is a lot of competition for boondocking spots so I'll try to get hunkered down somewhere as soon as I can.

Yes, Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the turkey our national bird. I'm so glad he didn't succeed. Wild turkeys are a nuisance but cooked turkeys are wonderful.

I've never been a big fan of turkeys, much preferring a sugar cured ham for my Thanksgiving dinner. But good ham is getting not only expensive but hard to find, with most ham having water added to it.
