Today has been cloudy with a few sprinkles the whole day. It hasn't rained enough to actually wet the ground but just enough to take some of the dust out of the air and deposit it on my recently cleaned solar panels. But my solar panels still managed to charge the batteries up to full

I haven't seen any signs of a mouse for two nights now so I'm hoping that nightmare is over. I don't see a thousand mouse holes all over the ground here at Box Wash like there was at Ben Avery's so maybe I won't have to deal with the pesky rodents at this location. I stayed here for a while two years ago and I didn't have any mouse problems, but just to be on the safe side I'll keep a couple of baited traps under the sink just in case.

I have three neighbors here at the big boondocking area at Box Wash and I met them all yesterday. They all seem like nice folks, two are full timers and the other is retired and travels a lot. There's three or four others boondocking down the road in the pull off areas, which is what I wanted to do but all of the larger areas I would fit into were taken when I got here.

I might go into Wickenburg tomorrow to the rodeo if the weathers nice. It's not a regular rodeo with bull riding and things like that, it's a team roping rodeo so all they do is lasso cows. Probably not as exciting as riding bulls but I can probably get a picture or two out of the show.

There's boondocking all along the road here at Box Wash. The Big thing below Box Wash boondocking area is Box Wash. It's a dry wash that's fun to ride off-road vehicles in or you can pan for gold in it.

Other folks have reported bad cellphone connectivity there... We wonder whether your WeBoost is giving you a leg up, what can you tell us in that regard?

Thank you for the compliment on the sunset picture, it's hard to take a bad sunset picture in Arizona, but if anybody can it would be me.

Yep, that's where I'm at and I thought I was hidden out in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks for reminding me about the phone reception. When I got the Weboost thingy I was supposed to keep everyone informed about how it worked but I got so used to it being there that I forgot about keeping everybody updated.

So here's the deal, at Box Wash my Samsung Galaxy S8 with Verizon service is getting two bars of LTE with no antenna boost, and four bars of LTE boosted. Now I can't tell any difference boosted or not boosted makes when talking on the phone here at Box Wash, but it makes a big difference in the speed of my data when I'm using my phone for a hotspot to get my laptop on the Internet.

Say for instance I want to watch a short five minute video on YouTube. Without the boost the video will have to buffer often enough that it makes it unwatchable so I have to pause the video and come back a few minutes later when it's finished buffering. But with the Weboost on I can watch the video in real time with little or no buffering.

I think if all I depended on my phone for was phone calls a booster probably wouldn't be needed because other than my property out in the sticks in Colorado my phone service is usually pretty decent, it's normally my data that benefits the most from the cell phone antenna.

Been following your blog for a few months. Liking it!!! I enjoyed todays post. Doing nothing is ok from time to time is ok IMHO.

Thank you Martin and welcome aboard. Anyone that can read my blog for a few months deserves some kind of prize, so feel free to buy yourself a special Christmas present this year.

I definitely have no problems doing nothing. Nothing is my specialty, I can do nothing with great joy and no guilt for days on end. If there were trophies for doing nothing I would have to buy a bigger trailer to carry my awards. In other words I'm the perfect full-time RVer.

Thanks for the confirmation on the place, Tom. Looks exactly like the kind of spot we love, will make sure to camp there when we're around.

Thanks also for the report on the Weboost, I b guess that's the ultimate compliment on such a device -- that it works so well we forget about it.

Regarding voice x data, the fact is that voice uses at most 64kbps in uncompressed state (ie ULaw or ALaw). And cellphones (usually) use a voice codec like GSM to reduce this significantly further... So it makes sense that a connection which was rather slow for data was still more than good enough for voice...

Box Wash is a great spot, I've always been very comfortable here and everyone I've ever met here have been good people.

I'm happiest when things around me work like there supposed to with little or no input from me. I think, without a conscience effort to do so, I've tried to make the Arctic Fox like a normal home where you flip a switch and a light comes on, you turn on the faucet and water comes out, you open the refrigerator door and it's cold inside. That's the way it is in a normal house and that's the way I want to be living in the Arctic Fox. After all I'm not camping, I'm trying to live a normal life in an RV. So if the infrastructure that I've built around me works silently and in the background then I'm free to do the things that I'm best at, which is relaxing.
