How many pics could a woodchuck click if a woodchuck could click pics?

It rained last night, so there was an interesting sunrise this morning... Not really pretty,  just interesting.

I was thinking I would leave here tomorrow, but then again, it would be kinda nice to experience a day of peace and quiet after all the weekenders leave. So I reckon I could wait till Tuesday morning before I mosey on up the road, I don't have any particular place I need to be, and my only time frame is to be back in Denver before the Memorial Day holiday.

I always enjoy being at Elephant Butte State Park, although this time has been somewhat of a challenge dealing with rising water and disappearing boondocking spots. A fellow boondocker told me the Lake had risen slightly over 30 feet in the last year. That seems hard to believe, but I've watched boondocking spots disappear since I've been here so I guess it's possible.

I drove into town today and filled the truck with diesel, but the propane place was closed, so I still need to fill up a propane tank. Then I wandered around Walmart for a while just to visit all the food items that I can no longer afford. It looks like I'm going to be on a permanent prison diet of bread and water just as soon as I can afford some bread.

I drove over to the Rio Grande and the dam that created Elephant Butte Reservoir and took a few snapshots. The Rio Grande really is flowing just like a normal river would now. Normally the only way I can see the Rio Grande flowing comparable to this is when I'm back in Colorado in the mountains, and the Rio Grande is just starting its long and arduous journey to the Gulf of Mexico. And it's flowing like that even though the reservoir is still rising.... And that's good news.

Theboondork

The beach is full of people boondocking for the weekend.

When I glanced at the mountains I thought it had snowed, but it was just a cloud clinging to the slopes.

For a few bucks this guy will come around and pump out your holding tanks, and fill you up with water. One would hope that this gentleman has no problems with dyslexia.

Whenever I see sailboats I always think of traveling to exotic places, mostly because I grew up around sailboats in Miami and the Florida Keys that actually did go to exotic places. Or like my sister and her husband, who lived on a sailboat in the Keys, they would at least try to go to an exotic place, but all to often ended up hitting a sandbar or a reef and grounding themselves.

I remember on one occasion I had to go out in my boat to help them unload tons of lead bars out of the sailboats keel onto the sandbar they were stuck on, and then put them back when the tide came in and lifted them off the shallows. That wasn't how all of their trips to exotic places ended up, but it happened more often than you might think.

But they loved sailing, and sailing boats, and their theme song of life was Southern Cross by Crosby, stills, and Nash.

Another day in paradise for some folks.
