Challenges to overcome

Yet another windy day, I had to turn my truck to face the wind again, so the camper didn't rock around so much. I can't catch a break, it's either too cold to get out and do anything, or it's so windy I can hardly stand up. Will this winter ever get back to normal? Or will it stay cold and windy the entire year, and I'll have to deal with Colorado blizzards in July?

Not much going on other than the wind. I wanted to go to an event called "Vail Pride Days," which thankfully is indoors, but I only got about halfway there when the wind made me turn back and go home. No big deal, I'll try to go there again tomorrow.

I could see from a distance they were hunting and jumping over at the arenas, but I had no desire to stand out in the wind and cold. They had to keep going with the competition no matter how bad the wind was, or they wouldn't be able to determine the winners by Sunday.

This hasn't been the greatest of winter travels for me. I'm using lots of propane because it's been so chilly, diesel fuel is outrageously high, and the cost of my groceries has been outrageous, and I don't see any of those things getting better anytime soon. So you do what you have to do. Some days I wear a coat while in the Lance, so I don't have to use as much propane to heat the place; I don't drive as much, so I'm using less diesel fuel. And I've cut out a lot of snack-type things that I used to buy at Walmart. Even doing that, my grocery bills are still ridiculous, but at least it's cheaper than eating out.

Like I've said in the past, these are challenges that I need to overcome, and overcome them I will.

I first spotted this from across the parking lot at the horse barns, I thought it was a wrecked car laying there next to the barn. Then when I got closer it looked like a sofa made out of a thousand little springs. Finally when I got real close I could see it was some kind of weird, woven, wicker sofa and chair that looked like it came out of the "Addams Family" living room.

A lot of oddities going on there, there's a rifle laying on the sofa, and a porcupine and frog in the lower left corner of the picture.

It seems that no matter how they lay out the Hunter Jumper arenas jumps, most of them end up with the horse jumping away from me like this.

This young lady looks somewhat apprehensive. I think apprehensive is a good expression to have when riding a horse, terror and panic also come to mind.
