Clouds or sunshine I Win either way

What I had hoped to be cloudy days, for photographic purposes, turned out to be mostly sunshine which made this the second day in a row without a pretty sunrise or sunset.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, sunny weather is great for keeping my batteries charged up because I do live on sunshine. But on the other hand, cloudy weather is not only best for taking pictures but also a requirement for a beautiful sunset or sunrise.

And such is the challenge of the boondocking life. I give up a little, but I gain a lot because I can live in places like Whitewater Draw, where the weather and the roads may be somewhat challenging but the natural beauty and the wildlife make it worth any inconvenience.

Standing on one leg while sound asleep. They also do this when the wind is blowing, what kind of balance mechanism makes this even possible?

I don't know how many Sandhill cranes are in this picture but I would sure hate to be the wildlife officers that have to count them. There's about this many more on the other side of the lake where there harder to get to.

It doesn't seem to matter where you put a picnic table, sooner or later somebody will put out lunch and eat there.
