Desert sunset

I went for a walk in the desert to watch the sunset last night.

I've enjoyed being here at Picacho State Park so much that I re-upped for another night. I considered staying longer, but they're full for the weekend. Come to think of it, that's one of my secrets, that's known to just about everybody, of finding a place to stay. You have to be extremely lucky to find places to stay during the busy season without a reservation on weekends and holidays; I usually don't even try. I just plan on boondocking on any special days, which of course, is fine with me, I avoid the noisy weekend crowds, and I'm happier boondocking anyway.

Last night before sunset, the clouds looked pretty good, so I thought that might lead to a nice sunset, so I took a walk in the desert to see if I could get some sunset pictures. I know the pictures look like I was stumbling around in the dark, but actually, it was lighter outside than the camera makes it look him, and I could see perfectly well without using a flashlight.

The sunset turned out pretty good, not spectacular, but not bad. This is one of the things that made me think about staying another night in hopes there would be an even better sunset, but so far, the cloud situation isn't shaping up that well, so tonight's sunset probably won't be as good.

So I reckon tomorrow I'll be heading for the Wickenburg, Congress, area if something else doesn't distract me. But since I don't have any reasons to be someplace for the rest of the winter, it looks like I'm just going to be wandering aimlessly and stopping wherever it suits me at the moment, which I have no problem with; I like to be surprised by where I  end up.
