Do real men wear blouses ?

I think tomorrow I will drive over to the town of Blouse Arizona. It's about 20 miles away but I've never been there before so visiting might expand my horizons, although I have my doubts about that since the biggest business in town is a chicken farm.

Blouse, which is pronounced the same as a woman's shirt, is a fairly new town started sometime in the 1920s and its claim to fame is being close to Camp Blouse which was an Army training base where Gen. Patton trained tank crews in World War II. The Army, and the tanks are long gone but the name hung on.

A lot of people don't know this but certain types of military men's uniform shirts are also called blouses. But it's kind of archaic, and I seldom heard it mentioned in the Air Force. I guess because the Air Force is a fairly new organization a lot of old fashioned terms were left behind. And speaking of fairly new, the Air Force was officially formed in 1947 which makes me one year older than the U.S. Air Force !!! That sounds pretty old to me. Thank goodness I'm not Barney the old fat man I think he's older than the U.S. Army.

These folks are set up for a long-term stay at the LTVA. And one of the ways I can tell is the garden tiller parked behind the RV. It takes a long term commitment to grow a garden at La Posa North.

More La Posa LTVA denizens. They have some kind of antenna on their class A that looks like it could be used to talk to passing flying saucers. And I'm not sure if their color-coordinated van is not a flying saucer itself, because I can't tell the back from the front. That's a trick space aliens use so you can't tell if they're coming or going.

I got up so early even the flea markets haven't opened up yet

I remember the phrase "blouse your shirt". That means to pull it out of the waist band a bit rather than tuck it in tightly. It took me years to understand what that actually meant, though. Now I just don't tuck in my shirt at all. Much easier.

Some folks in the military, depending on what the uniform of the day was, bloused there pants where they tuck into their boots. In the Air Force we didn't do much blousing, although the APs [air police] bloused their khaki uniform pants, but not their dress blues if I remember correctly.

The Air Force just isn't as gung ho as the other military services, and I think all that blousing is a part of the esprit de corps of the fighting branches of the military. If you think about it, most of the Air Force, other than bomber and fighter crews, don't do much training. Were trained to do a job when we go in the Air Force, and then every day we do that job. Some other branches of the service, in less there's a war going on, do nothing but "train". So they need things to keep their morale up and not lose their sharpness since there the pointy end of the spear. And things like their uniform and the way they wear it has a lot to do with their performance when the grits hit the fan.

I don't tuck my shirts in either, I don't think my belt is long enough to go around my stomach, pants, and my shirt.
