Does it really matter who the president is ?

I thought the neighbors house looked very pretty bedecked in its fall colors.

I just looked at something on the Internet that seemed rather official, and it said that diesel fuel is getting in short supply. Now that's something that someone like me who's driving a diesel truck doesn't want to hear just days away from leaving for a warmer climate.

Did I hear a sigh of relief from all you gas vehicle drivers? Well, don't get too happy too soon; there's a bit of bad news for us all in this diesel story.

Now, if it's true, and based on the diesel fuel prices I've been seeing, I tend to believe it; this is bad news. My biggest worry would be getting stuck someplace that didn't have any diesel fuel for sale just when I was badly in need of some. I guess the only bright spot I could see in that situation is "my home is where I park it," so I would have to live there until I could find some diesel to get me on the road again.

A more all-encompassing problem affecting everyone is the trains and trucks that keep the American supply chain alive, all run on diesel fuel! Just Google "Is there a shortage of diesel fuel in America? " And watch what happens. It's enough to make you want to do your Christmas shopping right now. At the very least, it appears the price of diesel is going to skyrocket... And it's already up to about $5.50 a gallon here in Denver. So all those businesses that move the freight will pass those diesel fuel prices on to the consumer... And that would be you.

So it looks like it's going to be a tough winter. But, on the other hand, I always try to look on the bright side of things, so I assume the situation will be okay and diesel fuel will be available; it will just be very expensive.

I remember two years ago when I was leaving Denver and heading for Arizona to soak up my share of that warm winter sunshine the desert has to offer, and I filled up my truck as I was leaving here at the princely sum of $2.19 a gallon for diesel... And now I wonder, how could such a drastic change for the worse occur so quickly? And much to my amazement, it does seem to matter who the President is.

Neighborhood Halloween decorations. The names on the tombstones are rather cute.... Thank goodness my name wasn't there, but at my age I guess I would be the last to know.

Thanks for that link Judith. That definitely doesn't sound too good. It's kinda weird that I first started buying diesel trucks because the fuel was so much cheaper than gas. And by the time I bought my second diesel truck the government raised the standards for diesel fuel so that it virtually doubled in price. And now it looks like it might double again. Instead of driving to southern Arizona for the winter, maybe I'll just drive to Colorado Springs and hang around until it warms up next summer.

P.S. I'd always like to blame any sitting president for things I don't like, but when I look closer it's rarely that simple. Never has been so far, and I've had occasions where I thought, well, my life has been pretty much the same in the short term, regardless of what they're up to.
But who knows, I don't know much about the oil market, and it could be it's all the current presidents fault.

In general, all you really need to know about our current oil problem is this. America has some of the biggest oil reserves in the world, ask anyone that works in the oil industry. And we have THE BIGGEST oil sands reserves in the world, and some of the biggest oil shale deposits in the world are found in Colorado on the Western slope. The day Trump left office, oil was cheap, we were selling oil to the rest of the world, and we had so much oil left over that Trump filled up our national strategic oil reserves which are only to be used in an emergency such as war.

The day after Biden took over the country he did just what he promised to do in a campaign speech. He shut down the Canadian pipeline, he slowed new oil leases to a trickle, and he banned oil drilling as much as he legally could. And he said that this was his administrations plan to wean us off fossil fuel use in this country and force us to depend on wind, solar, and electric vehicles.

The repercussions of what he did are now becoming apparent not only to us, but to the rest of the world.
