A sunset picture I took over on the west side of Padre Island in the Padre Island national seashore. "PINS". In a way I kind of liked it over there more than on the Gulf side of the island, but there were a lot of mosquitoes over there. It's kind of marshy which turns it into a mosquito factory. I don't like having to deal with mosquitoes. I don't want to have to worry about West Nile, or Zika, or covering myself in insect repellent. Mosquitoes are a dealbreaker for me. A typical cloudy day at the beach. One thing about the bad weather is it keeps everyone away from the beach. Not the fisherman of course, they fish no matter what the weather. I see a few surf fisherman on the beach but most fisherman where I'm at are out on the pier. They charge you two dollars to get out on the pier, one dollar if you're over 65. They also charge a dollar for every rod you bring out on the pier. Some of the nice Padre Island homes. These homes are right on a channel that goes out to the Gulf. Which means these are some very expensive houses. I'm sure it would be great to live in a place like that,... Or would it ? There are some pretty bad hurricanes that hit this coast, and I would imagine these folks have evacuated more than once and had to sit in a motel somewhere inland hoping their house would still be there when they opened the island back up for the residents. But my guess is these folks have enough money to weather any financial storm.
