Two more months until rolling south time. And I have not gotten north yet. What a messy year it has been.

This year has been a test of everyone's mettle and it looks like it's not done with us yet.

I think waiting until late November could be a great idea. The only thing I have had to dodge a couple of years is some severe cold starting in November. Since you can run an interstate south you could give the highway maintenance a couple of days to clear a snowfall and get rolling just fine. If Alabama had their act in better control I would have gone there earlier, but I am trying to protect the vulnerable kinfolks.

Protecting the vulnerable kinfolk is job number one.

Wow! Good catch Larry. As usual when dealing with governments a lot of what they're saying doesn't make any sense. If they want to keep campers out of their state, raising prices will help. But if they want to raise more money, which they say they do, raising prices will discourage people from coming there. It looks like they want to have their cake and eat it too.

I lived in Oregon for 30 years and witnessed the change of approach by the State Park service. They have been spoiled by demand and success. It is almost impossible to get a reservation in most parks due to the way they run they reservation system. People lock up sites through out the summer and cancel them at the last minute. The parks require that the sites be held open for 24 hours before they can be opened up. You have to get on a waiting list for a park. Very few parks have walk in sites available. I am afraid the problems of price and availability are only going worsen due to the high demand resulting from covid travel restrictions and the increased sell of RV;s.

That's very sad. Oregon is such a beautiful place. I think anyone that haven't driven the 101 from top to bottom is missing one of the most spectacular drives in America. Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
