I went to the Wickenburg Gold Rush Days parade today and it was a lot of fun, finding a place to park wasn't fun but the parade was fun. The parade was just like thousands of other parades put on by little towns all across America, and that's what made it fun. It was a celebration by hometown folks of the history of the town that they love. It was full of horses, and pretty girls, and old cars, and even a couple of politicians. Just exactly what you would expect to find in a parade put on by a historic old Western town. Patriotism, and love of country, was very much in evidence on every float and every high school marching band. And who would expect less from the small-town people who are the backbone of this country and are proud to live in the greatest country in the world. And after the parade everyone gets in their cars and their trucks and drives to the rodeo arena to watch Cowboys and cowgirls display the skills that you need to work on a ranch.
