So here it is, the end of my magazine story, and all I have to do is tie up some loose ends and write a finish.

The invention of the computer definitely put a dent in my magazine buying. I no longer had to buy a magazine that only had one or two articles that interested me; I could go on the Internet and find numerous very specific articles I found of interest. And not only were they more entertaining, they were also current.

Information in a magazine is at least two months out of date because that's how long it took to write it, print it, publish it, and ship the magazine out. But the information in an Internet article may have been written the same day.

And people are writing new articles about various hobbies every day, so I no longer had to wait a month for further information to come out about whatever I was interested in, so between those two things, the Internet was the best thing to happen to hobbies in my lifetime.

And that's not to mention all of the money I saved not buying various magazines every month because the things I've mentioned in this blog were not my only hobbies. I was buying Archery magazines, photography magazines, and don't get me started on all the gun magazines I was buying. I was probably spending at least 40 or $50 a month on various magazines, and now I spend almost nothing.

I'm sure there are folks still buying magazines, but for me, I can't think of a single reason why I would. It seems to me whatever your interest would be, the information on the Internet would be far more in-depth, in endless supply, easily printed off and saved, if need be, easy to categorize and store, and best of all... free.
