Click on Fluffy and you will hear Fluffy and his friends hanging around outside the trailer.
I went to the campground office this morning and re-upped for another week. I've been so busy this last week sitting around relaxing that I haven't accomplished some of things I wanted to get done. But I think one more week here will give me enough time to relax and do things I like to do that doesn't involve relaxing.
Fluffy the friendly coyote is still hanging around, probably waiting for me to get the vapors and keel over, but since I haven't seen any buzzards circling overhead I figure I'm still in tip top shape, and Fluffy is going to have a long wait.
But speaking of Fluffy I've developed a hypothesis as to what's wrong with his leg. It looks like his hip is the problem and not just his leg. I don't see any sign that the skin on his hip was ever broken but his hip doesn't look like it's the right shape so it seems like his problem is probably internal.
There's three main things that kill and injure coyotes in the West, gunshots, being hit by a car, and falling off a cliff while chasing a roadrunner. Of those three I would think being hit by a car is the most logical. The roadsides in the desert areas are full of dead coyotes, but I imagine a lot of them managed to hobble away with broken bones, and I believe that's what happened to Fluffy.
I think it must've happened quite a while back because he doesn't seem to be in any pain and he appears to have adjusted to his handicap and found a way to make a living. He's usually gone in the daytime and appears around here again in the early afternoon. He's still around here when I go to bed at night, sometimes by himself and sometimes with other coyotes, so he still has a pack that he interacts with but I can't picture him running for miles with the pack searching for food.
As you can see from the pictures he appears healthy and not starving like Wiley Coyote in the Roadrunner cartoons, and he's got coyote friends that he hangs around with so I guess I shouldn't worry about him..... But for some reason I do.
