Elephant Butte is a big State Park, but you can make it even bigger by clicking the pics. Last night's sunset.

When my rockhound Dad and his buddies would come down there in the 60"s, there was already a company making good money with old military half tracks pulling folks out of the sand and bringing rigs in and out. It may be the same company or relatives of the first folks. It looks like they have some better gear now. Back then they worked 24/7 with several crews during most of the year. Yep free enterprise works.

Wow! That's a cool story Barney. I would imagine if it's a moneymaking operation now, even though folks have bigger gnarly tires on their trucks. Back in the day it was probably an even bigger business because of the tiny tires we all had.
