Late yesterday afternoon a cool event happened, the sun was just dipping behind the mountains in the West, and the moon was just rising above the mountains in the East so it made for some interesting colors.
It was a nice day today other than a little breezy. For the most part the days have been nice, it will get chilly for a day or so but not enough for me to break out a coat or anything like that, usually a long sleeve shirt is all I need on a chilly day around here.
I'm making up a list of a few things that I need to order from Amazon when I get to the Ben Avery gun range in Phoenix and it looks like one thing I'm going to have to order is grits. I like to make grits for breakfast every once in a while, grits being one of the few things I can cook without destroying, but real grits are hard to find in a grocery store anymore. For those of you living in the South you probably can't believe they're hard to find, and for those of you living in the north you might not know what I'm talking about.
You can find what passes for grits around here such as instant grits and quick grits, but instant grits are inedible, quick grits are barely tolerable, and real grits are all but impossible to find.
I have to admit the name "grits" is not very appetizing, I guess they could've been called something worse like gravel bits or sand particles which would've sounded less appetizing than grits ... but just barely.
Growing up in the South as I did, grits were as much a part of breakfast as bacon and eggs. I don't know if it still is because I don't spend much time in the South anymore, unless you count South Arizona where they wouldn't know a bowl of grits from a bowl of corn flakes, and don't get me started on trying to get a glass of sweet tea at a restaurant in the West,
It seems like I need to get back to the deep South one of these days and get back in touch with my redneck roots, just to see what's been going on since I've been gone
An F-16 makes his turn back towards the bombing range.
High-altitude winds made for some interesting cloud formations today. I think clouds show up better in a black and white picture, most of those stringy clouds couldn't be seen in the color picture.
