I've been asked by numerous people.... Okay one person... To show what's going on with the Fitness and Nature Trail that's right next to my camping spot. I hadn't planned on using it but self isolating has been somewhat boring at times so for lack of something better to do I got out of bed early the other day [8 o'clock] and prepared my hiking backpack so I would be ready for any walking distance or eventuality.
I made sure I had my first aid kit, an extra pair of socks, needle nose pliers for any cactus mishaps, plenty of beer, because you get thirsty walking in the desert, and since there's a warning of snakes at the beginning of the trail, I brought my snakebite kit which consists of a bottle of Jack Daniels and a straw.
This fitness, nature trail is the kind that has exercise implements next to the trail that you can use if you choose, I obviously plan on using them all as long as they challenge my abilities and add to my fitness level. This is the first piece of exercise equipment right at the gate and it appears to require some bending.... I don't bend very well, I have a bad back, partially caused by bending. So I just used this bench to sit on for a while to contemplate the difficulty of what I'm about to attempt, and rest up from the hundred foot walk from the Arctic Fox.
This next piece of equipment appears to require some jumping, and jumping is almost as bad on my back as bending so I chose instead to slither under the metal pipes, but before I made it all the way through I noticed how comfortable it was laying there under the pipes so I took a brief but very relaxing nap before I slithered out the other side and headed down the trail.
There's various cacti along the trail most of which are in the very beginning stage of blooming. If I survive this first trip around the fitness course I'd like to come back later and see how the flowers are coming along
The trail starts out somewhat straight and boring but soon starts to twist and turn its way through what passes for a forest in the desert.
This piece of fitness equipment looked downright dangerous to me, and I didn't recognize any form of exercise that I would be able to accomplish on this contraption that wouldn't require me being rescued by EMTs and the Jaws of Life, so not wanting to endanger myself or anyone around me I moseyed on down the trail.
If I could catch these prickly pear cactus at the right time the blooms might be pretty spectacular. but it's a long walk, I would say their at least four beers away.
I didn't know what to do with this piece of exercise equipment either. I think you're supposed to climb up and down that little ladder a few times. But since I climb up on the roof of the Arctic Fox with my own ladder every once in a while this little ladder didn't look like it would be much of a challenge for someone at my fitness level.
Despite not knowing what to do with this piece of exercise equipment, for some strange reason it reminded me of the car I used to drive when I was in high school. Which would probably explain my extremely limited success at dating.
Well I'm not even halfway through my walk this morning, heck I hadn't even got to the part yet where I ran out of beer, but the blog is getting kind of long so I will post some more tomorrow.
