Nice beautiful sotol today. Not scary like yesterdays, and the first prickly pears were a nice retreat from the you-know-what ones below them.

Have you done any roaming over at the Spring Canyon Unit of Rockhound State Park just south of the main park you are at, I used to roam it a bit chasing photos,

Yeah I was there a couple of years ago, I didn't stay for long, but I do remember it looked like an interesting place, with a lot of woods and mountains, and cool rock formations that I wanted to come back to. But so far every time I think of going over there I've got something else to do. It's only about 3 miles away so you would think as long as I've been at Rockhound this year I would make it back there, but for some reason I keep putting it off.

Thank you Judith. The good news is that taking infrared pictures is something I don't do very often, and I think I'm just about over it for now, there maybe a couple of more but I think I'm just about done with infrared for a while.

Yup, I know what that's like. If the weather changes you only have to go inside to get the right gear. I hated the time we had a Class A with a toad. Never had the right stuff in the right vehicle.

Linda, I knew you being a vanner would recognize the benefit of having your home with you all the time. Incredibly enough I still haven't gotten used to having my home on my back. Sometimes when I'm going somewhere I'll think to myself, "I wonder if I remembered to bring my spare camera battery?" And it takes me a few seconds to realize its ALWAYS with me.

A few minutes ago a neighbor identified some big squawking birds to me as sandhill cranes. They are resting in the swamp next door. I have no idea if that is correct.

If the big squawking bird is about 5 1/2 feet tall, light gray, makes a weird croaking sound, and has a sign hanging around his neck that says "theboondork took my picture!" That would be a Sandhill Crane.
