How to stay safe in a nuclear attack

Another beautiful day today, wearing a jacket in the morning and a T-shirt by 10 AM. I can't wait for the events to start tomorrow; other than the barrel racing, I'm not sure what they're actually going to do in the other horse events. So I guess it will be a surprise. Whatever it is, I hope they're not going to use the indoor-outdoor arena because the lighting in there is always terrible, and it takes a lot of effort to get a decent picture of any event held in there.

I wonder why I haven't seen any dog events held here like I used to. Remember a while back; I had pictures of dogs running an obstacle course? I wonder what happened to that event. Like everything else, it probably had something to do with the bat flu, and maybe the dog people can't get together.

Speaking of the bat flu, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do about masks. I think legally, no one has to wear a mask anymore, but I still see many people wearing them when they're in stores. But it does seem like, for the most part, it's old people, which I certainly qualify for, but nobody seems to be talking about what we're supposed to do about the bat flu anymore.

Ever notice how on the news a story can be so important that it's talked about constantly, but as soon as a new story comes along, nobody cares about the old news story anymore, and it goes away as if it was never there. And it looks like the new story is all about the war in Europe.

And since this new story already has the threat of a nuclear holocaust, it certainly gets a lot of attention. But I'm not worried; living in Miami, Florida, during the Cuban missile crisis, I was taught while in high school what to do in the event the Russians launched a missile from Cuba at Homestead Air Force Base where my dad was stationed and my family lived. So I feel I have all the knowledge I need to survive a nuclear attack as long as I can find a school desk to hide under.

This is a big yellow RV, RVers know it as a Skoolie. This Skoolie is in disguise, and it's so well disguised you would never realize it was once a school bus.

One thing I've noticed about modern RVs is a lot of them these days have wild paint jobs, so it looks like the white on white RVs are just about gone. But despite that I never thought I would see a black RV.... At least I think it's black, it's kinda hard to tell.

But whatever it is it seems like a color this dark is going to get pretty hot inside during those summer vacations... And as the owner of an all black truck I've had more than a little experience dealing with that.

This is nice, but I can't tell if it's a small class C or large class B, or B plus, or a Super B. It's all rather confusing, but I like this one.

Seems to me the first time I noticed really dark colored motor homes had to do with photos of famous singers and their tour buses. Otherwise, I don't have a clue. But, yes, heat absorbing. As for covid, I just go by what I've read about the mask business - depends on how where you are is doing. I've quit masking. The numbers are stunningly low here...1,000 active cases a couple of months ago and this last week, about 30....lower than after the first wave was over. I've quit wearing one, but I am old and don't go hang out in bars or close quarters....my big excitement is at the grocery store.

Used to be all RVs were white mostly because that was the cheapest way to build them. Sort of like a T model Ford, you could have it in any color you wanted as long as it was black. So all the exteriors were made out of white material, standardization helps keep things cheap and there's not many things built as cheap as an RV.

But then just to look a little different RV manufacturers would put decals on their RVs. A stripe here, a swoosh there, and it spiced things up a little bit. But those plastic decals faded with age and frequently peeled making your prized RV look older than it really was.

But now RVers want a bold look, and that usually requires paint. It's expensive to paint them, which is why you normally only see it on higher priced RVs, which explains all of those tour buses musicians ride around in, but the pain lasts a long time and looks better than decals.

Same for me Judith, the only time I'm around anyone indoors is the grocery store, and when I have to re-up at the RV office, other than that I seldom go anywhere indoors where there's a bunch of people. So whatever I'm doing must be working because the bats have stayed away from me.

Let me say I have been a silent fan of your blog for a long time. You usually have me laughing out loud at some of your comments! Regarding the dog shows, check out coyoteclassic dot org which tells about the Tucson event. In 2022 it is in November, 17-21. I think it is at Pima County Fairgrounds (it is a huge event) but I see the Agility and Trick Dog competitions are held 15 miles from the fairgrounds at Kino Sports Complex, 2500 E. Ajo Way, Tucson, Arizona 85713. And of course with your Bronco it is no problem to go over there to see these fun events! I would LOVE to see your photography of the events. Just think, 100+ different dog breeds to photograph?!? And all kinds of different events? And lots of the dogs are dressed in cool outfits. My AmStaff and I would walk around between classes and he wore a purple hoodie with the coolest sunglasses. He was a great ambassador for the breed. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you Jools in North Texas, but I've been going from arena to arena watching horses jump over things this morning.

I'm very glad to have you as a fan, silent or otherwise, and if I can make someone laugh it makes my whole day.

I also appreciate the information on the different dog events. And I too would like to take pictures of all those dogs, they sound like they would keep me busy for a long time. And seeing the events just depends on where I am at that particular time. As you know I don't like to make plans if I can help it, but interesting events are something that I try to see if at all possible. So it just depends on what part of the West I'm in at that time.

If I had a dog I guess both of us would have to dress like homeless bums, with matching work for food signs. Although I've got a feeling the dog would raise far more money than I would.

And don't worry Jools, I'll keep blogging as long as you keep laughing.
