RVs are being moved in today at a rapid rate since the show starts tomorrow. I'm amazed at how quickly they can move as many RVs as they do into the Fairgrounds.

On Friday something called the Jurassic Quest Dinosaur drive-through starts. I'm not sure exactly what it is, and since I'm no longer 10 years old it doesn't exactly interest me, but apparently, there is a dinosaur exhibit that you drive through in your car and get to see dinosaurs for your entertainment and enjoyment. Now if the grandkids were here, I'm pretty sure I would have a different attitude.

Just like last year, the County fair has been canceled. Which really affects the income of a lot of people. And even though I'm not a big fan of county fairs, they do bring a lot of money to the area, and a lot of folk's financial lives depend on it.

For lack of anything better to do I re-upped here at the Fairgrounds for another week, but this will be my last week of hanging around here. It's a shame that no car races are going on next door, there's no drag racing at the dragstrip down the street, and most of the shows have been canceled at the Fairgrounds.

But it doesn't matter much now, I've got to get out of here after this week is up, because I have to rush, rush, rush, and hurry, hurry, hurry, plans were made, schedules to keep, because I have to get to my New Mexico State Park reservations on time... So much for being free to come and go as I please.

A C-130 flew by this afternoon

Followed a few minutes later by these two A-10 Warthogs. The three of them were probably practicing bombing runs together.

As you know I am still looking to drop size in my rig also. There is a lot of improvement in the big rigs but the small rigs around 20 feet and down are not showing much innovation these days. Your search is an item of great interest to me. Thanks for leading the way.

It seems to me that when the toy haulers became popular, everybody started making a toy hauler. And some of them were so small I'm not sure how a toy and the owner would both fit in it.

Then along comes the ultra-small trailers, represented by the rolling egg-type design. These small trailers are still popular and are undergoing a revolution mostly by giving them a place to plug in a computer and being towed by a smaller vehicle.

And now there is the latest and greatest which covers everything from a smallish class C to a class B and that's where the most innovative design changes are to be found from what I can see.

Small appears to be in right now, maybe because small appeals to the younger folks, and to the señor citizens that are tired of driving large RVs around the country. Which by the way, to me the only reason I can see to drive a giant RV around the country, is if you're a Snowbird and go from point A to point B and back again, and you want a large comfortable RV to live in while you're at the two places that you live all year.

I think the problem that I face is twofold. One is I think I will have far fewer worries, stress, and hassles as I move about the country if I'm not towing something. Yes, some problems arise when you have to use your home as your daily driver, and I have faced that problem before. But not having something with its own running gear rolling along behind me will automatically cut my stress levels in half.

The other problem that we both face is finding a small in size, but true four-season RV that the factory actually recommends as a four-season RV. A Bigfoot slide-in truck camper comes to mind, as does a Northern Lite slide-in.

Since I'm assuming you're still interested in smaller trailers, tomorrow I will mosey over to the smaller trailer section and see what they've got. But since this is a La Mesa dealership show, they will only have the brands they carry. But I'll be looking for something smaller than your current 22 feet, and maybe a van or two just so you can see how those little things cost as much as a decent class A.

Holy Cow! That thing looks expensive. But I'm fascinated with that battery, it's a lithium ion battery, instead of a lithium iron battery that most RVs use. The battery alone must cost half of what my truck is worth. The extra feet in length doesn't bother me, I'm just tired of towing something around.

But that is a beautiful RV, and it's only one Megabucks Lottery win away.
