I actually did some work today, I hope it doesn't become a habit.

In the downtown part of old Yuma they have this vintage steam locomotive, and I just love old steam trains. My last restaurant was located right across the street from the Cripple Creek Colorado. train depot and I built the restaurant with a train theme in mind.

I worked up enough ambition today to run a few more wires for my rearview cameras. Since time is flying by for me, and weeks feel like days, I think that may explain why it takes me three weeks to do a three day job.

I wasn't always this way, when I worked for the federal government it would take us three weeks to do a three hour job, and we lived by the supposition that we pretend to work and they pretend to pay us. But now that I'm a boondocking fulltimer I think it's simply laziness.

Now I don't want anyone to get the impression that installing a wired rearview camera takes weeks. Fact is a normal person with just barely enough ambition to get out of bed before lunch would be able to knock this job out in an easy weekend with plenty of time to watch the women's mud wrestling championship on Sunday, my money's on Muddy Mary the Mississippi Madam. So even though a wired system has a more challenging installation process, at least when it's finished it will work every time, all the time. Which unfortunately I could never get my wireless system to do.

I decorated the restaurant with old train paraphernalia that I bought from various sources as I traveled around and it fit the image of Cripple Creek perfectly, because in the 1890s when Cripple Creek was a booming gold-mining town there was over 70 trains on three different tracks that came to Cripple Creek every day.

A few of the trains brought passengers in and out, but most of them were taking the gold ore down to Colorado Springs to the big mill to be refined.

The old timers would tell me how the locomotive was like a living thing. It breathed, it coughed, it howled, and in numerous ways let you know when it wasn't happy. It's said that each one had a different personality and could make you happy, or quite easily kill you if you didn't understand its moods.

Everything on a steam train is big, heavy, oily, and dirty. It was a tough job but the guys that did it were usually union and paid really well.

This is where the engineer stands when he's driving the train, it looks pretty complicated but at least he didn't have to have a steering wheel, or a GPS, since it was pretty difficult to get lost.
