I am running out of things to throw away

My eyes aren't that great, so clickin can't wait, if I want to see just how big pics can be.

I got some stuff done in the Arctic Fox this morning, but it had clouded up by afternoon...No surprises there. But this weekend will end these very cloudy days with lots of rain in the forecast. There will still be some rain in the forecast, but it is more like 10 or 20% than 50 or 60%.

The piles of stuff in the Arctic Fox are growing, and I have about reached the end of things I can throw away. My youngest son is visiting this Sunday, so I can unload some stuff onto him. He likes Go Pro cameras, and I have a bunch of Go Pro accessories I can give him that I no longer use. Everything I can get out of the trailer at this point makes life easier for me.

I have yet to do much to the truck to prepare it for its emissions test next month. Every year that emissions test is a thorn in my side to keep me worried about whether or not my truck will pass or how much it will cost me to make it pass,

If I had a new truck, everything would be fine because Denver only emission tests vehicles once they're ten years or older. But the chances of me getting another truck are slim. The only thing that may save me is I'm putting very few miles on my truck nowadays; last year, I put 4200 miles on the truck, and that's almost nothing for me. So at that rate, it may break down, but I don't believe it's going to wear out.

Texas recently stopped requiring emissions testing. Texas!

Will bless their hearts. If I had any sense I would make Texas my domicile, it's always been a favorite place of mine.

I am an Escapee since 12-98 and found it to be a great way to have a legal address and very small cost and get my mail anywhere in the USA.. And now you can have an Escapee address etc from Texas, Florida or south Dakota.

The older my truck gets, the harder it will be to bring it into compliance with Denver's extremely strict admission standards. Which means one day, I may have to look into changing my residency so I will still have a truck to drive.

I like being a Colorado resident and have been so for about 40 years, and all that time, I had never lived in a Colorado County that required emissions tests as the counties around Denver do, and unfortunately, that's where I happen to live now.

Life is easy for me in Colorado. My family and my legal residence is here. Obviously, I'm very familiar with the state. In fact, my only problem living in the Denver area, besides the traffic, of course, is these annual emissions tests, and the only way around them is to move to a different county in Colorado or buy a new pickup truck which won't have to be emissions tested during its first ten years.

I don't know what I will do in the near future, but so far, the truck is passing its tests, so it's more of a stressful concern for me than an actual problem. But who knows? Texas is a great place, "it's a whole nother country," and would be near the top of my list of places to live if it ever came down to that.

Unfortunately not totally correct. They stopped vehicle inspections state wide (safety stuff) but will still require emissions testing in counties that require it (counties with large cities usually).

Thanks for that information Larry, Yeah, that sounds like Colorado. The bigger cities have it, but the mountain counties don't.

A long, long time ago in Miami Florida, they started having safety inspections for vehicles, theory being that it would save lives if they could force people to buy new tires, shocks, and fix a burned out headlight bulb. But the outcry from the civilian population was loud, strong and persistent about what a dumb idea this was, and it wasn't accomplishing anything except making tire dealers wealthy beyond their wildest dreams.

After a few years, the whole program was scrapped when it was determined that most people were dying on the highways not from a cracked taillight lens but from drunk driving and drug smugglers shooting each other from their Ferrari's.

I read an article sometime back stating that safety inspection programs were not that effective. In Texas the inspection location got $7.50 for doing the inspection which usually took a half hour or so. The state got $7.50 for doing nothing. When they eliminated the inspections the state continues to get the $7.50 for a "mobility fee". Just another tax. I don't know the cost of the smog inspections.
