'I can see clearly now the rain has gone.'

I wouldn't even have taken this picture if it weren't for the joy of finally being able to see the sun come up.

The morning dawned clear and crisp with blue skies and nary a cloud in sight, just the kind of sunrise I dread when I'm trying to take a sunrise picture. But in this case, it's been so cloudy for so long that I was happy to see a sky full of blue instead of the sullen gray clouds that have saddened the sky for the last four or five days.

Without clouds, a few military jets came into view, but it was a mixed blessing because they were Marine F35s, and they were always flying so high it was difficult to get ANY pictures of them, much less a good one.

The only way I know they're there is by the roar of their engines, which are very loud for such a small plane. If the temperatures at their altitude is right, they leave a contrail, and I can follow the contrail and see the tiny dot that is the plane.

This is in contrast to the A-10 Warthog's from Davis Monthan Air Force Base that fly relatively low and slow and are far easier to take a decent snapshot of.

I didn't even try to go anywhere since I could hear the road crews a mile away on the main road clearing the debris off the road that the dry washes left after the heavy rains. Dealing with dry washes and their transition from the sandy pathway that makes walking through the desert easy to a raging torrent of water sweeping away everything in its path is just part of life in the desert, especially if there are mountains around.

But depending on the amount of rain in the area, the dry washes only run for a short time, usually only an hour or so, and maybe leave a little sand in the road, and that's about it. But places like Ajo are set up to live with and deal with dry washes, so there just a minor inconvenience, like a freight train that passes through town occasionally.

It's been terrible trying to get a picture of the military airplanes flying by. They've been flying so high that I can't see the airplane I can only see the contrail. But unless the temperature is just right they don't make a contrail then I can't see anything I can only hear the roar which is way behind the airplane itself

This contrail is miles away, and miles high, but if you zoom in about 3 or 400% you can barely see the F- 35 which is a couple of hundred feet ahead of the contrail. And you can tell it's an F-35 by the twin vertical stabilizers.

Ajo's claim to fame is its huge copper mine, which has long since been closed by union strikes and violence. But I guess volcanic activity has something to do with the copper being formed, and this mountain in the background looks like layers of lava piled in top of each other.

Some mornings there would be a low fog hanging around.

A couple of my neighbors in two popular RVs for solo travelers, a camper van and a truck camper. Once I figured out I didn't need to walk to my bed, or walk to my kitchen,  it occurred to me I didn't need to walk around inside the camper at all, having everything close at hand was actually very convenient, and if I needed to walk I could go outside.

of course I didn't have enough room inside the truck camper for all of my stuff, but come to find out it wasn't a camper problem, I just had too much stuff.
