I can't believe I've got the same problem I had last week.

A cutting horses job is to stay between the cow and the herd that the cow desperately wants to get back to. And the horse does this without being given instructions. You can see that the horses reins are slack, and all the cowboys doing at this time is holding on so he doesn't fall off, which is not as easy as it sounds considering the violent moves the horse is making.

Another beautiful day today, that's three in a row, a new record for me this winter.

I looked out the window last night and could see that their still doing the horse cutting competition even after dark, that gives me the hope that I can walk over there after the sun goes down this afternoon and get some better pictures under the arena lights than I'm getting in the arena that's partly in shade and partly in bright sun light. Hope springs eternal.

The weeks I've spent here at the Pima County fairgrounds have flown by so fast it's simply unbelievable, especially when you consider the weather hasn't been all that conducive to having a good time. I attribute this speedy passage of time to the fact that there's so much for me to do and see here, that I'm really enjoying myself.

The downside of that is my life is flying by so quickly that the month I've been here is a blur and feels like a week. And I get the sense that if I stayed here I would use up the remaining years of my life in three months.

But despite the fun I'm having, I wouldn't have any trouble easing on down the road Monday morning except for the fact that next weekend their having a High School Rodeo here at the fairgrounds, the kind that I used to go to when I lived in Colorado, where there's going to be junior high school and high school kids, riding bulls and broncos, wrestling steers, roping events, barrel racing, all the things that go on at a regular rodeo within a five minute walk from where I'm boondocking, can you imagine the picture taking opportunities?

I am truly wrestling with what to do, one minute I really want to hit the road and find a new home, with a new view, and new challenges. And the next minute I'm picturing being at a rodeo with so many colorful events happening I don't know which way to point my camera ..... I guess there's a lot worse decisions I could be having to make.

The horse isn't falling down, he's just spinning around so quick that the cowboy's boot is dragging the ground.

The horse has to do this without input from the rider because the cowboy can't react quickly enough to tell the horse what to do to keep the cow away from the herd.

Eyeball to eyeball.
