This morning's sunrise. There's still some clouds around but they've been burning off before lunch.
Quartzsite seems pretty much back to normal now, the Big Show has been over for a while, and the people that are only interested in the Big Show have gone, which might explain the crowd of people I found yesterday boondocking in Congress.
Thinking back on the Congress boondocking situation. I think there was more boondocking available than it appeared. I believe the slightly muddy roads made everyone boondock near the main road, which is what I saw. There was still plenty of boondocking available but everyone, including me, was afraid to drive around for fear of getting stuck.
It looks like the temperature for the next ten days will be in the mid-70s, which is a lot better than what I've been dealing with for the last two weeks or so. Part of that is because the weather has simply gotten better, and partly because Quartzsite is over a thousand feet less in altitude than Wickenburg.
Checking on the Internet I found out that there is an off-road motorcycle and UTV race in Lake Havasu this weekend and another race in Parker, Arizona, the weekend after. I'm not sure what, if anything, I want to do about all that. Parker's race sounds more interesting to me, and I'm not sure if I want to drag the Arctic Fox to both events. I would also like to spend some time in Laughlin, Nevada, boondocking in some casino parking lots. It might be interesting to see how the gambling business is doing during the Bat flu pandemic.
Here's a few pictures of the Cowboys at the team roping championship.
Now this is a real cowboy. If you're going to make a western movie, this could be your star. I don't know what his actual name is but it's probably something like, Stone Goodhart, and his nickname would be the Arizona Kid.
So their you are, at the most important championship of the year, the best Ropers in the entire country standing around watching you, and you're in the middle of the arena in front of God and everybody, your steer is in the next county by now, and you have an empty loop.... Even your horse is embarrassed.
