I started noticing yesterday afternoon that it looked more like a Friday afternoon than a Thursday afternoon because of all the people starting to come in to the park. But after a while it got to be really noticeable and it made me wonder what was going on. About that time I looked at the calendar and found out it was the Easter weekend.
I knew Easter was coming up soon because when you shop at Walmart its pretty hard to ignore holidays. They start dressing the store at least a month ahead of time for whatever holidays coming up, so you have to be from another planet to miss what's going on.
Well I'm not from another planet because I knew Easter was coming up, but being a full-time RVer usually means, time and dates don't mean much to me, so I didn't realize this weekend was it.
I've always said that holidays are not a good time to go camping, especially in state parks. It looked to me like most of the good camping spots were taken by yesterday afternoon, so anyone coming after that would have to boondock in the less desirable areas. As far as hookup sites, fagetaboutit, I'm pretty sure they were gone by Thursday morning. But at least here at Elephant Butte there are so many areas to boondock that I don't think the place would ever fill up.
