Large meadow near where I used to live, I've hunted in this area, it's all Pike national forest. A lot of good memories associated with this place, cold memories, but good nonetheless.
I took a drive today through the Pike national forest which is pretty close to me. I was looking for some Fall pictures with lots of changing leaves but basically found that the leaves changing is just getting started and is not even good yet much less spectacular. Oh well, at least I got to drive through some pretty places despite everything being green.
A recent weather report is calling for the possibility of snow in Denver on Thursday I don't think it will be a problem because it's been too warm for it to really stick to the ground so it might not even be a good picture taking event. But Thursdays high for the day is supposed to be 40 with a low in the mid-20s that night.
I had an empty propane tank in my truck when I went for my drive figuring I would fill it up first chance I got. And sure enough a little town out in the middle of nowhere had a propane refill place where they filled the tank up for $2.25 a gallon as opposed to $3.85 here in Denver. But what can you do, I would use up the savings in diesel fuel if I had to drive all the way out there just to fill up a propane tank.

That rocky mountain in the background is named Devils Head. There's many a legend of outlaw gold and Spanish treasure associated with Devils Head, and many a man has gone looking for it in the narrow canyons, and bottomless crevices of Devils Head never to be seen again.
