I finally got around to responding to larrys comment

I click all the pics and I've never had the bat flu. That might not be just a coincidence.

I've been kind of busy lately, and combining that with only about half the electricity that I need in the bronco has been making it a little more difficult for me to keep up with my blog. So turning questions folks ask in their comments into a blog post helps me to write my blog posts quicker before I run out of electricity.

I think when I can work up enough ambition I should try to hook up a couple of my lithium iron batteries and see how that works. Maybe that will at least solve some of my shortage of electricity problems.

But anyway, Larry asked me a few questions, and here are a few answers.


I don't blame your wife one bit Larry for not wanting to spend a lot of time in truck camper, most slide in camper's are really small and cramped, no more so than a normal camping van, but at least the van is easier to get in and out of. I do talk to couples that are living in slide-in camper's or vans, and they've either got to get along with each other really really well or there's going to be big problems. And most people I talk to are considerably younger than me and are more adaptable and bendable which is a useful asset to have if you need to live in a small space.

I kind of like black and white pictures myself, but I've never been able to capture that somber, gritty feeling that some black and white pictures seem to have. I think doing that requires some talent, and imagination, both of which have always been in short supply for me. I just have the technical ability to capture an image that I see, and not necessarily what I would like to see.

Yeah with a wife and two large dogs you are pretty much limited to medium or bigger RVs. The thing that's always worried me about class C's is they tend to be somewhat under-powered for the weight they carry. Running around the mountains of Colorado seems like I see more class C's struggling to get up the hills than other RVs.

Yeah I've looked at the Alaskan camper, but it's also a pop-up, it's just that it has metal sides instead of canvas sides that pop up. So their problem is anything that has the roof come down can't have much storage that hangs from the roof, or it will hit things on the way down. So storage is always limited in any kind of pop-up type camper.

With the price of fuel, and the cost of campgrounds this would actually be a pretty good time to sell an RV for top dollar, and use that money for a new hobby. But when you're a full-timer, you're kind of stuck dealing with the price increases. I think the fuel prices will get a little cheaper after the next election, but until that happens this is going to be a tough winter for a lot of folks.

As usual my pictures have nothing to do with anything going on in my blog. It kind of seems like I live two lives, one life I write about, and another life I take pictures of, and every once in a while those two lives come together as one.... But not very often.

So these pictures are some of the ones I took at the team roping contest yesterday. And Team Roping contests are a family affair.

This little girl must've been five or six years old, but she was riding her horse all over the place. She was wearing spurs on her boots, and a riding crop in her hand, so I assume she knew how to use both of them.... Any future husband should probably take note.

There's some spectators at a team roping contest, but they all appeared to be family members of the contestants.

Unattended horses are parked in random places, so anyone walking around without boots on.... that would be me, had to be very careful when walking around looking for pictures to take and not paying attention to the ground.

There were several parking areas for all the horse trailers, and there must've been at least a hundred or more of them there.

It's that family thing again. See the little kid playing on the ground? I wonder how much horse manure that kid will eat before he's old enough to know better?
