Quartzsite Arizona sunset.

About 6:30 this morning I jumped in my truck which was already hooked up to the Arctic Fox, pulled out of the La Posa South LTVA and a few minutes later was headed east on I-10 facing an absolutely blinding sunrise.

I had been looking on the Internet for ideas on places to stay if I needed to bug out of Quartzsite and I found out that a lot of the Arizona state parks campgrounds were actually still open which surprised me because New Mexico state parks, and Colorado state parks are closed, but I wasn't interested in staying at a state Park because they're too expensive for long-term stays, but it made me wonder that if the state parks were open for camping maybe other places were open for camping as well and I might find a place that's safe, not too crowded, and populated enough to  have medical care should I need it.

Because of all the worrying I've been doing about the virus I didn't feel like dealing with any exploring or breaking new ground looking for a place to stay, I wanted someplace that was familiar, mentally as comfortable as old slippers, and my past memories of it needed to be happy one's. So one phone call later to make sure they were really open I made up my mind to go back to the Pima County Fairgrounds where I've always enjoyed staying in the past.

Now it's not perfect here, there are confirmed cases of the virus in this county, but what can you do, it's almost everywhere and if it wasn't here already it probably would be next week.

Obviously there are no events taking place at the fairground, and being able to walk to those various events is one of the reasons I like this place so much, but it still has the familiar laid-back feeling that I need at this point in my life.

 On the plus side I don't plan on spending a lot of time around people so I'm fairly safe in that respect, and I even chose to boondock here at the fairground so the nearest RV looks like it's about a 150 yards from me so I don't have to be around the part of the RV Park where people in their right mind stay.

There's a Walmart and other grocery stores just a few miles away if and when I need to buy anything, which hopefully I won't. The city of Tucson is  about 15 miles away and of course the suburbs spread out so I'm actually closer to civilization than 15 miles which means there are doctors and other medical help available for me if I need it, and that certainly wasn't the case in Quartzsite.

Also the weather looks great. The 10 day forecast is calling for low 80s and sunny skies which is just the kind whether I need right now.

The RV Park isn't full and their skipping spaces if they can so everybody's not parked too close together. And I was told that Pima County says they're not going to close the RV Park here at the Fairgrounds in less they're forced to by the state of Arizona or the federal government. So with any luck I'll be able to stay here as long as I want to or as long as I can stand the heat.

But don't worry, if it gets too hot I can always move over to the main part of the RV Park and plug-in, I'm not boondocking here for lack of money, I'm boondocking because I really enjoy it, and since I'm the only one in the boondocking area, it has the added benefit of keeping me farther away from people.

Walking around La Posa South I found this 6 foot long lizard someone made out of white quartz. It looks like it took a lot of time, talent, and trouble to make such a critter.

One of my neighbors at the LTVA has a big honking box on the back of his class A that holds a complete barbecue set up. It certainly seems like a lot of expense and effort to go to just to have a convenient place to cook a hamburger, but it's his money, and his life, so he doesn't have to please anyone but himself.... and his wife........ mostly his wife.
