I went to town today and filled up the truck with diesel, I didn't really need to but I used the opportunity to get rid of a Walmart bag of trash. I filled up a propane tank @ $2.22 a gallon, and spent a few minutes walking around one of the flea markets.
Things have calmed down considerably since the Big Show ended, I can drive around town, get things done, and find a place to park with no problem. I'm beginning to think that it doesn't make any sense to be in Quartzsite during the Big Show in less your enamored with the ambience.
I've never bought anything from inside the big tent but I have bought things from the flea markets, and the flea markets are here whether the big tent is here are not. So now I'm not seeing much sense in dealing with the crowds and the hassles of being here during the Big Show since the big tent is no longer something of interest to me.
I'm still in the same location where I parked when I got to Plomosa Road. I looked around and didn't find any place better than where I'm at now so I might as well stay here until I get ready to go to another BLM area.
I hooked up the new gas tank to the little Beta's carburetor which leaves one more project to get done that came with the seat and gas tank kit.
Since the little Beta is geared very low it limits the speed its capable of while riding on dirt roads, so in the kit they include a larger primary sprocket and a smaller rear sprocket so the motorcycle can go faster at lower RPMs, and one of these days I need to put the new sprockets on.
It's getting up to the mid-80s today but because of the 12 percent humidity all I had to do was open the roof vents to make it perfectly comfortable inside the Arctic Fox. And looking back on it, there hasn't been a single day since I've been in Quartzsite when I've needed, or wanted to turn on the air conditioner.
Flea markets on both sides of the road in Quartzsite.
