I got goosed

This is one of the many buildings at New Mexico Highlands University downtown Las Vegas. It's actually a pretty big campus.

The wind was blowing so hard today I finally gave up and put the rear stabilizer jacks down. I kind of hate to do that because I put them down so seldom I worry that I will try to hitch up the Arctic Fox to the truck with the rear jacks down and under certain circumstances that could get very ugly. But I got tired of the trailer moving around and putting down the stabilizer jacks fixes all that so I'll just have to remember to pick them up again before I get ready to hitch up and leave.

When I leave Storrie Lake I'll be able to fill up with water but I won't be able to dump my holding tanks. The dumpsite here at the park has been out of commission for a while and they tell me there's no plans to fix it in the future. As usual the lack of money is to blame. They tell me the repair cost would be over one hundred thousand dollars which they don't have and can't get.

I've always been amazed and dismayed at how our grandfathers and fathers were able to buy or otherwise acquire the land that all of our parks are built on, build the infrastructure of the park, including its campgrounds, boat docks, roads, and yes even it's dumpsites. And then hand all of that to my generation and for some reason we can't even afford to keep it repaired.

I know I've ranted about the government and the waste of our money before and it didn't do any good then and it won't do any good now. Because I know the Nation's wealth will continue to be thrown down a bottomless pit of need instead of keeping the country running and the infrastructure repaired. But hope springs eternal and maybe one day people will come to their senses and realize that a welfare state does nothing but kills personal responsibility, destroys people's lives and keeps folks dependent on an ever-growing government.

Okay, that was really depressing I can't end my post with something that makes me feel that bad. So here's a joke I heard a while back.... stop me if you've heard it before.

There's three teenage boys out in a rowboat, they hear someone yelling for help and see somebody that looks like they're drowning. They row over and pull the man on board and it turns out to be president Obama. the President thanks them for saving his life and says, since I'm President there's a lot of things I can do to help you boys so what can I do to show you how much I appreciate you saving my life?

The first boy says I would like to be accepted at the Naval Academy so one day I could be the captain of a Navy ship. The President says, you got it.

He then Looks at the second boy and says, and what can I do for you? The second boy says, I would like to go to the Air Force Academy so one day I could become a Fighter pilot. The President says, no problem I'll call the Academy in the morning.

He looks at the third boy and says now what can I do for you?  the boy says I would like to be buried at the Arlington National Cemetery with all the American heroes. The President looks at the boy and says, son you can't even be 15 years old why are you worried about where your going to be buried? And the boy says, because when my Dad finds out I saved you,..... he's gonna kill me.
