I live like a turtle, I move slow, and I don't go far... But Wherever I go, I'm home.

A lot of pic clicking should be going on.

I took this picture of the coal train that runs right across the street from the RV Park I'm at. It goes by two or three times a day, but usually I'm so tired after walking around the Bosque all day that I don't have the energy to walk across the street and take a picture of the train.

But I know there's some train people that read my blog, you know who you are, so I made the effort to take a snapshot of the train.... You're welcome.

Being the weekend, things were a bit more crowded around here. The RV Park was about 1/3 full, and many more people were birdwatching and taking pictures at the Bosque. But that's okay; there's plenty of room to spread out at the Bosque, so it never feels crowded.... Unless you're on the flight deck when all the professional photographers are in town.

I needed that day off yesterday; I worked on my pictures, cleaned up inside the Lance, and rearranged some things in my tiny but adequate living space so I can hit the road tomorrow.

I'll be leaving here tomorrow morning, and since it's Sunday, there will be no traffic so I can go anytime I feel like it. I will stop at the Walmart in Socorro since there's no shopping here, and I'm low on a few things. I think until I get used to the Lances limited storage space, running low on something is going to be a bit of a problem. I can carry everything I need, but I will have to go shopping more often since there's not a lot of room to maintain backups. This means I will be less inclined to boondock out in the sticks, where it's a long drive to grocery shopping.

Of course, I've always been opposed to boondocking out in the sticks, 20 miles down a beat up dirt road and 20 miles back if I run out of coffee. That never made any sense to me unless you're a city person and getting out in the middle of nowhere is a special event. But I've spent plenty of time in the woods and the desert with no one around, so it's no longer something that's special to me.

And of course, your RV or vehicle takes a terrible beating driving on bad roads. It may not break while you're doing it, but driving on dirt roads a lot will take its toll, and wears everything out quicker.

There's a lot of things I try not to do in this full-time lifestyle I'm living, and that's mostly because of what my goal is in my long-term boondocking life. I'm not on vacation, I'm not on an adventure, I'm not out to see the world and every National Park in it, I'm just living a normal retired life, except my home has wheels.... Thankfully a lot less wheels than before. But other than that I do the same thing everyday most any other retiree does. The biggest difference being, I'm free to do whatever I want, and I can change the view out of my living room window whenever I feel like it.

Since I'm staying at an RV Park I am of course surrounded by large trailers and motorhomes, and I am easily the smallest RV in the place. When talking to folks some of them seem to feel sorry for me having to live like a turtle. But the truth is I feel sorry for them living in their large, cumbersome RVs, and I don't mention to them that I have my own large, cumbersome fifth wheel back in Denver, and I actually choose to live this way.

Fortunately the RVing lifestyle has room for everyone, whether it's large and cumbersome, or small and turtle like, so whatever you have; "laissez Les bons moments rouler !!!" You know I do

One of the lakes at the Bosque where I like to be at sunset, and so do a lot of other photographers, both real photographers, and picture snappers like myself.

You can often tell the real photographers because there driving a rental car, and are carrying more camera equipment than the car is worth. Or there driving a half-million dollar Earthroamer and are carrying ALMOST as much camera equipment as the camper is worth.

I looked into getting one of these Earthroamers myself instead of the Lance, and the only thing that stopped me was I didn't have enough money to buy it, ensure it, or license it, but I almost had enough money to fill up its tank with diesel fuel. So I was almost all in.

Sometimes the cranes flying into the Lake as the sun is setting is pretty spectacular.

Birds wings can do some pretty incredible things that's  not readily apparent at full speed.

I can't believe I get to live like this.... Life is good.
