I think global warming has finally arrived. Probably explains why I don't see any polar bears.

Storm clouds rolled in over the mountains late afternoon and made for an interesting sunset.

I've almost got the little Bronco camper ready to load up. Yes, I know I've been trying to get it ready to go for quite some time now. Any sane person would have it loaded up already. Still, the heat we've been having in Denver makes it's too hot to get outside and do anything for a large part of the day.

It's been in the low to mid-90s every day, which is a lot lower than the temperatures I was dealing with in Tucson, but we don't have desert-like humidities here. They're usually around 20 or 30%, which makes it feel hotter than the desert. And since I'm not plugged in my air conditioners not running, so it's been getting pretty warm in the Arctic Fox. Fortunately, it's still getting down into the 60s at night, so I don't have any trouble sleeping.

And speaking of trouble sleeping. Sunday morning, my family asked me if I had any difficulty sleeping with all the fireworks going off all around me for a large part of the night. And I told them that I didn't. I went to bed about 10 o'clock, and I remember lying in bed for a few minutes, wondering how long it would take all these people to run out of fireworks. The next thing I know, I opened my eyes, and it was morning. I guess that's why I can sleep like a baby in truck stops and Walmart parking lots.

I checked the New Mexico state parks website. I found that the governor of New Mexico will continue keeping the New Mexico state parks closed for camping at least until the end of July.

As someone who spent many years in the tourist business, the second week of August is pretty much the end of the tourist season since people have to go home and get the kids back in school. So if camping in the state parks is going to stay closed until July 31, there won't be enough of the tourist season left to keep the small businesses alive. They depend on those parks being full of RVers.

 None of this affects my travel plans, but I still feel sorry for the New Mexico state parks because they've always been short of funds for maintenance and necessary repairs. I feel especially bad for small businesses in the area that are often hanging on by their fingernails even in the best of times.
