Last nights sunset.

I moved my dog and pony show out into the desert at the north end of Elephant Butte State Park and felt better just as soon as I got here.

There's just something about leaving a place that has paperwork and schedules involved and moving to a place  that has no paperwork and no schedules. So I don't have to worry about dates on a calendar, and I can leave tomorrow, or I can leave a couple of weeks from now, and it doesn't matter to anyone but me.

I guess it feels so good to be out here because I spent two weeks at the Pima County Fairgrounds, which is a great place, and I like their boondocking, but it's a busy place with stuff going on all the time, so it's great for picture taking but not as good for relaxing.

Then I had to go through all the uncertainty of New Mexico opening up out-of-state camping again, familiarizing myself with all of the new rules, and paying for a hookup site when I'd much rather been boondocking. So I think being out here by myself is something I needed to recuperate from all the stuff that's interfered with my relaxing that's been going on for the last month or so.

Like I mentioned before in previous blog's it's a bit over 15 miles from here to any serious shopping, so it's not the kind of place you want to be if you need to run into town every other day.

I saw some wading birds down on the river before, but I haven't seen any today. I hope they weren't just passing through, never to be seen again, although I suppose this is the time of year when that can happen as they head North.

Since my lack of backing skills are legendary, your probably amazed that I could back into this area without going over a cliff...... I was pretty amazed myself.

For anyone that may be thinking I'm too close to a busy dirt road, this road is about 1/4  of a mile loop that's there just for access to three or four boondocking sites, and I'm the only one I've ever seen here.

This will be home till maybe early next week.
