I wonder what it would be like to have a straw instead of a mouth?

It's kind warm again, low 90s, 30% humidity and the Summer doldrums are still sapping what little ambition I can manage to muster.... But I understand that I have it good compared to some folks that reside in Texas that are dealing with heat and humidity that would cause me to immediately pack up and move to Alaska. But moving to Alaska under these circumstances would require more ambition than I currently possess so I would probably just sit and suffer.

But I do have dreams of the future when the temperature will be in the 70s, the humidity in the teens. And I will be toddling down the road to southern Colorado in hopes of seeing a few Sandhill Cranes flying south for the winter among the snow-capped peaks of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. When will that be? Probably sometime in September, but I'm never sure until I pull out of the driveway.

I enjoy thinking about places I want to go, I just don't enjoy thinking about when I'm going. Because as soon as I decide when, it becomes a schedule, and when it becomes a schedule, training in my previous life starts putting stress on me to get things ready, to get things done so I can meet that schedule... I can't help it, that's just the way I used to live and old habits die hard.

 One of the things I really enjoy about living in the Lance truck camper is I'm only minutes away from being packed up and ready to go. And it doesn't matter if I've got to go to the store, or I'm going to Arizona, the packing up and driving away time is just about the same.

And of course it has to be that way because the truck is my daily transportation, and the Lance stays on the truck all the time, so I can honestly say that since I've set up the Lance so my truck can be used as a daily driver it takes me less than five minutes to get ready to drive to the store and about the same time to get the camper ready to go to Arizona.

The Arctic Fox was in no way that easy since I didn't have to tote the Arctic Fox everywhere so things in it got spread out if I stayed someplace for a while, so it took quite a bit longer to get it all put back together again so I could go somewhere with it, not to mention the tires, bearings, and brakes that needed checking before I could leave.

So Is it the time it takes to get ready to leave the important thing? No, of course not; I've got all the time in the world. It's the stress, it's the worry of making sure everything's right with the truck and the trailer. But my worry is cut in half nowadays since I only have to worry about the truck, and I definitely like it that way.

if I had a straw instead of a mouth I wouldn't eat the flowers that grow down south, I wouldn't eat hotdogs, and I wouldn't eat cakes, my diet would consist of chocolate milkshakes.

I would slurp up as many shakes as they had, give a big burp and say I was glad that I wasn't always eating the flowers down south, and was happy  with a straw instead of a mouth.
