Went to Walmart this morning, I was almost out of my over-the-counter nose spray allergy medicine. I picked up a couple of extras while I was there because when I leave here Sunday or Monday, I can't remember which, I have no idea where I'm going and there might not be a Walmart in the area so I figured I'd better stock up.

And speaking of stocking up there's some seemingly rational people on the Internet suggesting that folks stock up on some food because it looks like the Coronavirus has no chance of being contained and will begin spreading through the US just like it's spreading around other country's right now and it's just a matter of time.

The whole thing scares me for a variety of reasons and one of the things is unlike the Flu which puts very few people in the hospital the Coronavirus, is near as they can tell puts about 20% of the people that get it in the hospital, and to me going to the hospital is a sure way of getting sick even if you weren't before. And of course the mortality rate is way higher than the Flu, the Flu being a few 10th of a percent but 2 or 3% of the people that get Coronavirus don't survive it. And all of that gives the added problem of fairly quickly overloading the hospitals with sick people which is why China is building a bunch of pretend hospitals as fast as they can.

Italy is now quarantining towns where there is Coronavirus and placing soldiers on the roads to make sure no one comes and goes from the afflicted towns. And they just passed a law that calls for prison time for anyone caught leaving the quarantined area. All of this is why some people are saying we should stock up on some food now just in case getting to a grocery store, becomes difficult in the future.


Well I've certainly depressed myself just writing this but writing my blog has always been about sharing the full-timing life that I live with others so they can get a long term view of what it's like to live in an RV, and worrying about things like this is just part of my life. It's certainly a part of my life that I'll be glad when it's over, but unlike the flu I have a bad feeling that this is not going to go away anytime soon.
