What an embarrassing position for my home and my transportation to be in. It could've been a lot worse, instead of a rest-area I could've been sitting beside the road in a dangerous position. I don't know what went wrong the engine went into "reduced power" mode going down the interstate. And I was fortunate enough to have a rest area only about a mile away, and when I shut the truck off it wouldn't start back up again.
My dad always said problems come in bunches like bananas.....And he was right. Yesterday I was kind of sick for half the day, and today my truck breaks down. I'm usually able to fix most of my truck problems, but today I couldn't and had to be towed in from a rest area just outside of Santa Fe New Mexico to a diesel repair shop in Santa Fe.
I got here too late for them to do anything to my truck today, but they're kind enough to let me camp In the parking lot until they fix it. I was hoping to have a beautiful view from the parking lot, but apparently, diesel repair places seldom have a pretty view.
My tow bill was $320 for a 10-mile tow, And I'm sure my repair bill will make that look like pocket change. I don't know yet because they haven't even glanced at the truck I just hope it's something they can fix without having to order some unobtainable part. At least Santa Fe's a decent-sized town, so they should be able to get anything here, and if they can't, Albuquerque is only about 60 miles away.
I guess I should count my blessings, at least I'm not sick AND have a broken truck.
It looks like this shop stays pretty busy. I hope they can get around to fixing me pretty quick
