I'm back to worrying about jury duty again.  You may recall I have jury duty in Denver on May 20 which in theory I can't get out of because I've already postponed it once since I was in Arizona at the time and their rule is you only get one postponement.

My previous thought was that with the Coronavirus outbreak and me being at risk because of my age that maybe they wouldn't force me to go to that jury selection, and even if they did make me go my experience has been that a lot of the time the jury selection is canceled the day before your scheduled to be there for some legal reason like the defendant pled out at the last minute, so there was a chance I wouldn't have to show up for the selection process anyway.

But yesterday on the Internet I found out that all juries have been put on hold in the county where I legally reside till the end of April to give the judicial system a chance to figure out what to do about the whole pandemic situation.

Now I don't know what will happen but what could happen is after a few weeks the judicial system could decide that they will continue impaneling juries, after all there are legal limits on how much time the government has to put you on trial, and now being way behind with their trials they will have to scrape up every possible juror they can lay their hands on to try and catch up on all the delayed cases.

This might mean that when I'm called in late May they will be so desperate for jurors to get rid of the glut of cases that have backed up I would have to be stretched out on a gurney wearing a toe tag to even have a chance of getting excused from jury duty.

This whole jury thing seems to be going from bad to worse. I normally don't relish the thought of growing older, staying alive yes, growing older no. But now I find myself wishing I was 75 so I could legally opt out of jury duty.

So it looks like I may end up in a situation where my very own government which is supposed to be protecting me might put me in the position of having to choose between increasing my odds of catching a deadly virus or spending time in jail.

As usual I don't have enough information yet to know what's going to happen, or figure out what to do about it, so I guess I'll just continue living day by day enjoying the desert sunsets and being thankful that I don't have to worry about going to work and supporting a family in this current terrible situation.

The dumpster situation at La Posa South is definitely not looking very good. Maybe I just hit it at a bad time but this is the worst trash problem at this LTVA I've seen since the government shut down of 2018.

The dumpsite is working fine and there was only a couple of RVs there. The dumpsite is usually one of the busiest places in the LTVA and when the Big Show is in town there will be long lines of RV's waiting to dump their tanks.

Folks are filling up with water so hopefully I won't have any problems when it's my turn in another week or so. One of the big reasons people pay to stay at the LTVA's instead of just boondocking out in the desert for free is the ability to get rid of their trash, dump their tanks, and fill up with water whenever they need to, and in the desert where waters scarce paying a few dollars to stay at an LTVA is a real bargain.
