I'm going to cut back on some of my Needless driving

When I put my pictures up on the blog today I hadn't noticed before but they had something in common.... They were all simple. And since they were so simple they shouldn't need an explanation, or a comment. So I decided that today my pictures would have a theme. And that theme would be "simplicity."

Well, I've put off going to Walmart for so long now that I'm not even sure if I want to go there. I did a quick inventory last night, and I've got more than enough food to last till the holidays are over. I've got about two weeks' worth of propane left, plenty of coffee, and a water faucet in my backyard. All of which makes me wonder why I need to go to Walmart?

 I've done this boondocking thing long enough to know I need to keep plenty of backup essentials, so I'm seldom in a position where I might run out of something. And yes, the lack of storage space in the little bronco means I can't carry as much stuff as I can in the Arctic Fox, but I can still carry enough stuff to be able to go for quite some time without restocking my essentials. So why did I feel like I HAD to go to Walmart before the Easter holiday this weekend?

The fact is, I didn't HAVE to go to Walmart; I WANTED to go to Walmart. And probably for the same reason that a lot of us go to Walmart,
"A" to get out of the house,
"B" boredom,
"C" to feel like we're doing something useful,
"D" to spend some money,
"E" all of the above.
After last night, I probably fit into the "E" category figuring out I wasn't actually in the "running out of food and propane" column.

After giving it some thought, I decided that paying these outrageous prices for fuel didn't make any sense when there was no reason for me to go to the store. I don't mind driving around just for the sake of driving around if the fuel is reasonably priced, and there's plenty of it, but nowadays, neither of those things are true, and it appears the situation will get worse before it gets better, and maybe a lot worse.... Does anyone remember the Jimmy Carter administration and what he did to this country?
 
So I'm still going to travel like I normally would because that's my life, but going to the store to kill some time like I've been doing doesn't make much sense to me nowadays.
