I'm I really happy-go-lucky? or just too dumb to get out of the way?

I've still got some things I wanted to get done while I'm in Denver, but as usual, my procrastination gene chimed in and said, "Don't worry, you've got plenty of time; you can get things done tomorrow." Well, tomorrow is just about here, and I've still got things I need to get done, and the weather is just about to turn on me.

A cold front is coming through starting Thursday, and it will last about a week, The worst days look like Sunday and Monday, with highs in the 30s and lows in the low 20s... Seems like only yesterday, I was complaining about the heat.

But I can't complain, it's been a long beautiful Fall. The leaves have been great, both in the mountains and in the neighborhood. The temperatures have been almost perfect, and life is good.

Despite all that, I'm not really set up to deal with temperatures in the 20s and 30s  for more than a short period of time; my normal way of dealing with cold temperatures is to run away... run fast, run far, but this time, I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a cold place, unsure of what I should do, but I do have options.

And my options are; I can rush around and do some of the things I need to get done, leave Wednesday, and try to outrun the winds and the cold... Especially the wind. I've done that before and ended up stuck in a Walmart parking lot for days because of the wind..... But the wind is not my only problem, most of all... I  don't like to be in a hurry.

Being in a hurry is what you do, when you've got a job, a doctors appointment, or going on vacation with the kids. Hurry should not even be in a retired persons vocabulary. And if it is, you may have been unable to completely let go of 40 years of working at a job.

What I like to do is enjoy my traveling with no pressure, no stress, and no particular destination in mind. If you have no destination in mind, it's impossible to be late. I want to stop where I feel like it, and stay as long as I want. I know most people don't feel that way, nor do most folks even want to feel that way, but that's what full-timing is all about to ME. A famous Japanese poet when asked; "how it  feels to be back home"  said, "The journey itself is my home."

On the other hand, I have the option of staying in Denver, enduring the cold until after Halloween when the cold front blows over, then the weather will be back to normal, and I can travel at my leisure.

But with the high daytime temperatures being in the 40s and 50s, I will have to run my furnace a lot. Not only will I use a lot of propane, but every day is supposed to be pretty cloudy, which means I will only get a little charging from my solar panels at a time when I have to run my furnace, which uses four or five amps an hour of electricity. And the humidity will be high due to the cloudy weather, which will make it feel colder than it is.

So, all in all, it sounds like a lose-lose situation for me. But I'll figure something out; My happy-go-lucky, serendipitous attitude has never failed me, and I doubt it will start now. But with nighttime temperatures in the low 20s a person could be pretty uncomfortable if not properly prepared, and running out of propane in the middle of the night is more than just a little annoying.

Getting a brand-new road....There's nothing like the smell of hot asphalt in the morning to make you want to put on your traveling shoes!

And my traveling shoes have been taken out of storage, placed under the table, and any day now will be laced up and hitting the road.
