I'm in a period of simplification

To click, or not to click, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or just go ahead and click the darn things.

Last weekend my daughter and son-in-law took the grandkids to some kind of a kids Museum in Denver. After seeing pictures of it, and being told all about it I still don't understand what it actually is... And why.

I am still working in the Arctic Fox, separating out the needed from the unneeded, the wanted from the unwanted, and the loved from the unloved. I'm becoming increasingly amazed at how many things I had in the Arctic Fox that I thought I couldn't live without in my brand-new, shiny, full-time lifestyle that I now blithely toss into the ever-growing pile of unnecessary trash.

But in some ways, it all makes sense. As I've streamlined my full-time life, moving farther and farther away from always having to be busy doing something and going places, to a simpler life of enjoying being where I want to be and doing what I want to do, I'm finding I need less and less stuff to support my life.

I used to travel with a rod and reel and a small tackle box when I first went full-time, which was a huge downsizing from the separate freshwater and saltwater tackle boxes, each the size of a small footlocker I used to own. And now I've decided to leave my one remaining rod and reel in my storage room because it's not getting enough use to justify the minimal space it takes up.

I've got a dozen or more old Bear recurve bows that I've collected over the years since I always loved archery, and Fred Bear was a hero of mine. Every time I go to my storage room, I  think about taking out my favorite vintage black fiberglass Bear Kodiak magnum recurve bow and putting it in the camper to shoot every once in a while, especially at Ben Avery gun range, where they have some beautiful field archery courses I could use. But I wouldn't use it very much, and there again, it takes up room that I could use for things I actually use regularly.

I've also considered carrying a bicycle again to ride around on since I can no longer carry my little motorcycle on the Lance. Everybody's riding electric bikes now, so that would be almost like a real motorcycle, and maybe I could figure out a way to carry it on the Lance. But I seldom rode the bicycle I had, which is why I got rid of it, and an electric bike would add another 50 pounds or so to the already bloated load I'm totin around.

So that's how things usually go; as you get older, you do fewer things, and instead of feeling bad about doing fewer things, you're glad you have fewer things to do. And that leads to a simplifying of life; whether you're in a three-story sticks and bricks or a tiny home on wheels, the need, and yes, even the desire, to get rid of things seems to be the hallmark of approaching geezerosity and the inevitable decrepitude that follows.

Whatever it is, or whatever it does, the kids had a good time, and enjoyed themselves.

I didn't go to the museum so my daughter took these pictures with her cell phone, and I'm just passing them on.

If nothing else, it's certainly colorful.

I think it bothers me that I don't recognize anything.

I was told the building itself is about five stories tall, so there's a lot of high places to look down from.

I'm thinking that if you landed on a different planet it might look something like this. So other than space travel, I just don't get it.
