I'm missing a lot by not being in Tucson Arizona right now.

When I choose to click a pic or not, I never know just what I've got, until I see them big as life I never know if there  flawed or nice.

I almost decided to pack up and leave Elephant Butte State Park today, but I changed my mind.

I was looking at the events at the Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson, and there's a lot of neat stuff happening right now. There are dog shows, horse events, and other stuff that would give me many opportunities to take pictures. I even checked the mileage to see how far I would have to drive to get there, and it's about 300 miles from Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, where I am now, to Tucson, Arizona. But after giving it some thought, I decided that staying here for Thanksgiving was still the best thing to do....even though a big bowl of Popeyes red beans and rice would be a great Thanksgiving dinner.

Usually, during the winter, I travel from Colorado to Arizona, then to New Mexico, and back to Colorado. But somehow, I went in the opposite direction without even thinking about it. Some years, what I did would be a bad idea. However, this year, since it's been fairly warm, New Mexico is still a nice place to be, although usually, I consider New Mexico too cold to spend the winter in, much preferring the warmth and single-digit humidity of the desert areas. But I'm here now, so I'll have to make the best of it and hope the weather stays fairly comfortable till I head West to Southern Arizona.

Many long-range weather forecasts still talk about some Western states being wetter and cooler than normal due to El Niño. But nobody seems to know for sure, so I tend to go by the Saguaro model of long-range weather forecasting, which means places where Saguaro's are growing, can't get too cold or stay that way for very long. So when you're in an area surrounded by Saguaro cactus, your chances of freezing to death are almost zero.

But whatever happens, it doesn't look like it will be anything I can run away from, so I'll have to ride it out, whatever the weather happens to be.
