I'm not really a morning person

Clicking the pics brings a sense of joy, and a rush of excitement, to an ordinary day... some readers report nausea and a sense of revulsion.

My current digs in Quartzsite. The neighbors are closer than I like, but I probably won't be here too long. In the next day or so I'll drive around and see if I can find a "perfect" boondocking spot.

I made it to the Parker Walmart this morning, but not as early as I'd hoped; I crawled through the door past the greeter, cold and still half asleep, with just 15 minutes left on the geezer hour. It turns out it didn't make much difference. There weren't many people in the store, and I saw just as many young people as I did geezers. Apparently that particular Walmart is not all that picky about your age during the geezer only shopping  hour. Or, there's a whole lot of geezers in Parker that look a lot younger than I do.

Speaking of cold, my truck said it was 36° when I got in it this morning at 6:10 to go to Walmart... That's weird; the weather forecast was for the mid-40s as a low. It must be global warming.

Since geezer hour at Walmart is an hour before the store officially opens, one of the things we have to deal with is "the night stalkers"....these are the guys and gals that keep the shelves stocked up. Most of their work is done at night, so we have to deal with aisles being partially blocked by pallets of Walmart goods that the employees are loading onto the shelves during the geezer hour. This doesn't bother me too much but seeing other people work that hard makes me tired just watching.

Speaking of working. I've always noticed that many old people work all around the Quartzsite area, and I'm talking about REALLY old people. It's weird walking into the McDonald's in Quartzsite and seeing people behind the counter that are as old or older than I am. The good thing about that is, me and the old geezer behind the counter know that neither one of us can hear each other, so I yell out my order really loud, and they yell back my price. This works much better than having teenage girls behind the counter that whisper everything.

Hopefully, that will take care of my grocery shopping for a while. I'll probably make the trek back to Parker again just before Christmas to get myself a Christmas dinner. Until then, any shopping I do will be outdoors at the numerous flea markets scattered around town.

This hurts!!! For you longtime Quartzsite wintertime denizens you will recognize this as "Herb's hardware store", which at the present time appears to be defunct, right down to the "for sale sign" on the left side of the fence. Herb's hardware was one of my favorite stores in Quartzsite. I bought many bits and bobs in there over the years to complete some do-it-yourself project on my campers, and now it's gone. Maybe a victim of the Bat flu? Bad management? global warming? I guess we'll never know.

Parker Arizona is a train town, it appears they do some maintenance here. This is their depot.

It seems my wintertime travels are revolving around cranes. First the Sandhill Cranes, and now this railroad Crane.
